The Association of Friends and Sponsors of the GFZ (Verein der Freunde und Förderer des GFZ e.V.) - short name: GFZ Friends - founded in 2004, aims to promote the activities of the German Research Centre for Geosciences ideally and financially.

What we do:

• We support the German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ ideally and financially.
• We support young scientists, e.g. by awarding the annual Friedrich-Robert-Helmert-Award.
• We support the contact with our GFZ alumni.
• We promote the work of the GFZ and the social importance of the geosciences to the public.
• We maintain and preserve the historical heritage of the Potsdam Telegraph Hill.
