Friedrich Robert Helmert Prize 2021

The Friedrich Robert Helmert Prize 2021 goes to Irina Zhelavskaya, who very successfully completed her PhD at the GFZ in the Space Physics and Space Weather Section in October 2020.

Irina Zhelavskaya did her PhD as a Geo.X PhD Fellow at the University of Potsdam and the GFZ in the field of computational physics, researching in particular the dynamics of the plasmasphere, a region of cold and dense plasma surrounding the Earth that is important for GNSS navigation and the prediction of dangerous effects of radiation in space on spacecraft.
